Documentation

• Complete the Asset Declaration form (this will be sent to you prior to the assessment and is crucial).
• Upload the completed form at least two weeks before the assessment.
• Submit your Cyber Essentials Basic assessment via the portal at least one week before the assessment.

Preparation

• Download and install scanning software (if opting for a remote assessment).
• Provide contact details for your technical lead during the assessment.
• Grant permission for external scans.
• Ensure a pre-agreed sample set of computers is available for assessment.

Preparation Call

• Conduct a prep call with the assessor to confirm all arrangements for the assessment. The prep document should be reviewed prior to this call.

Assessment

• Assessment day procedures.
• If the assessment fails, you must provide evidence of remediation and organise a retest within one month. Retests are free if conducted remotely and take no longer than one hour. Otherwise, retest fees start from £400 plus VAT (if within one month).
• If a retest is not completed within the month, a full repeat assessment and re-quotation will be necessary.
